Therapy

Peptides and peptidomimetics constitute excellent tumor-specific targeting moieties and can be coupled to therapeutic and diagnostic radioisotopes via a linker and a chelator.

Radiopharmaceuticals carrying particle-emitting isotopes can destroy unwanted or diseased cells, such as e.g. cancer cells. 3BP’s targeted radiopharmaceuticals will destroy target expressing cancer cells as well as neighboring tumor cells and cells from the microenvironment by direct radiation-induced cell damage and via the bystander and cross-fire effect.

Since radiation is a very efficient cell-killing agent, the amount of radiopharmaceutical required is small and the side effects are mild and transient. Targeted systemic radiotherapy is therefore a promising new approach to treat metastasized cancer.
