Laboratory Automation Specialist (m/f/d)

3B Pharmaceuticals discovers and develops targeted radiopharmaceuticals providing a focused and personalized approach to the treatment of cancer. Our peptides and peptidomimetics constitute excellent tumor-specific targeting moieties and are coupled to therapeutic and diagnostic radioisotopes via a chelator. As a leader in peptide discovery and optimization, 3BP has built a technology platform extending from hit identification to early clinical development. Technologies are applied to both in-house and collaborative R&D.

To advance 3BP’s technology platform, we are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our hit identification unit.

Your responsibilities

You will be responsible for the lab automation of 3BP’s hit identification and screening platforms, in particular for the integrated automation of our mRNA display technology. You will work closely with our research scientists and with external automation suppliers to design and implement new automation solutions as well as enhance existing automation systems.

Your tasks

  • Development, implementation and validation of new standalone and integrated automation systems for 3BP’s hit identification and screening platform
  • Extension and optimization of existing standalone automation including KingFisher and Andrew Alliance systems
  • Collaboration with scientists to identify unmet needs and new automation solutions to address them
  • Coordination of maintenance and QA on automated equipment
  • Training of new users to operate equipment, prepare SOPs, and provide technical support

Your qualifications

  • A passion for lab automation challenges
  • Advanced technical skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills on robotic equipment
  • Prior experience integrating automation solutions
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment
  • ‘Can-Do’ attitude
  • A holistic mindset considering all aspects of lab automation such as time to implement, manual elements in the work-flow, setup and operational costs
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • S. or M.S. in Science or Engineering with 2+ years of automation experience
  • Experience with database integration with the automated platforms, and knowledge of programming languages like C++, Python are a plus.
